Who is Travelle?
Situated on the second floor of the luxurious Langham hotel in an iconic skyscraper designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe that once housed IBM regional headquarters, Travelle is located along the Chicago River in the heart of downtown Chicago. A play on the word travel, Travelle is a casually elegant restaurant, lounge, and bar featuring Seasonal American cuisine. Dishes feature ingredients sourced from around the country, utilising a connection with some of the nation’s finest farms, ranches, and orchards. The Langham, Chicago, has a sub-brand website for Travelle.
The Brief
The previous Travelle website had been in place for some time without regular maintenance, so the technology it used was outdated. As a result, the Langham’s marketing team in Chicago faced the problem of finding a new home for a website that most hosting providers would not support. The former website was also lacking in terms of flexibility.
The Process
We recommended that The Langham, Chicago move the former Travelle website to the STAXO hosting environment. This allowed us to provide some breathing space and future scalability. The STAXO team recommended that the website should be redesigned. This was due to the functionality that Langham, Chicago needed in modern website design and development.
The new design called for individual links to events pages (i.e., for linking to pages on social media) and flexible content areas (i.e., for displaying videos). Some of these features were simply impossible with the former website’s front-end.
An intelligent menu was developed for the site, which could be easily updated by Travelle staff and increases the site’s SEO capabilities.
The Result
The new website accurately represents the Langham, Chicago’s brand. It is an aesthetically beautiful and functional website. Where the old website lacked flexibility, the new site now stands out. Visit Travelle and experience a one-of-a-kind culinary performance.
